In Egyptian mythology, Nefertum, the god of perfume and healing, arose from within a blue lotus bud from the primeval waters and from his tears, mankind was created. How beautiful is that? In this creation story, he represents rebirth as he is the personification of the sunrise as well as patron of the many ingredients revolving around mummification.
The Book of the Dead reads “Rise like Nefertum from the lotus, to the nostrils of Ra, and come forth upon the horizon each day”.
While in Egypt, I was able to pick up some incredible scents from an oil shop we toured. I’ve created an EVER AFTER perfume oil reminiscent of the ancient smells of the land. This scent has starts off with gardenia, lotus and papyrus, a cardamom heart and a base of oud and myrrh. I’ll be posting these tomorrow in my big cartel at noon PST. I have very limited quantities of this available so grab one while you can. Each oil comes with an 8.5 x 11 giclée print of the original drawing and are carefully wrapped in Egyptian incense infused paper.
